Introduction: Where Design Meets Emotion
Vietnam’s hotels are no longer just places to stay, they’re spaces to feel. Across the country, architecture and art are converging in bold, surprising ways. From Da Nang’s minimalist coastal palettes to Saigon’s grand statement interiors, hotel art is shaping how travellers experience place and memory.
At Hay Hay Design, we’ve had the privilege of contributing to this creative movement, where every artwork, texture, and surface plays a role in the storytelling of a hotel. Here, we celebrate some of Vietnam’s most inspiring examples of art-led hospitality, hotels that prove great design begins with vision, collaboration, and imagination.
1. The Regent Phu Quoc – Where Contemporary Art Meets Coastal Elegance
Perched on the pristine beaches of Phu Quoc, The Regent Phu Quoc is a sanctuary where hospitality and art coexist in perfect harmony. From grand installations to intimate gallery moments, the hotel curates an immersive artistic experience that elevates the guest journey.
A highlight is the “Charming Deeps” installation by the Czech studio Lasvit, whose luminous glass forms echo the movement and depth of the surrounding ocean. The installation becomes both a sculptural centerpiece and an ambient experience, a delicate balance of craftsmanship, light, and design.
Complementing this are works by contemporary Vietnamese painters such as Saddo and Nguyen Ngoc Vu, whose bold, textural compositions bring energy and narrative into public spaces and suites alike. The hotel also regularly hosts curated exhibitions featuring artists including Mzung Nguyen, Lieu Nguyen Huong Duong, Nguyen The Hung, and Pham Thanh Toan, transforming corridors and communal areas into evolving galleries.
Through careful selection and placement, each piece — from monumental glass sculptures to abstract canvases — contributes to a cohesive design story that celebrates both local talent and international collaboration.
1. The Reverie Saigon – When Art Becomes Spectacle
Few hotels embody design extravagance like The Reverie Saigon. A collaboration between Italian designers and Vietnamese craftsmanship, it’s an artwork in itself, lavish, theatrical, unapologetically bold. From Murano glass mosaics to sculptural chandeliers, every surface tells a story of opulence and imagination. Here, art is not background, it’s the protagonist.
3. Hotel des Arts Saigon – Where Modern Glamour Meets Artistic Soul
Hotel des Arts Saigon is more than a boutique hotel, it’s a living gallery. Part of the MGallery Collection, the property celebrates the romance of travel and the sophistication of 1930s Indochine design. Every corridor, suite, and surface holds a carefully chosen artwork, reflecting both nostalgia and modern elegance.
Its collection includes over 500 original art pieces, curated to evoke the golden age of art and culture in Saigon. From figurative works that nod to Parisian modernism to contemporary Vietnamese interpretations, the hotel seamlessly blends East and West, past and present. Bui Huu Hung: He created the painting “The Royal Life,” which depicts Empress Nam Phuong.
Do Xuan Doan: His countryside scene is displayed in the hotel's registration area.
4. Mai House Saigon – Elegance Rooted in Storytelling
Stepping into Mai House Saigon feels like entering a private residence, warm, cultured, and deeply personal. The design philosophy here centers on heritage and hospitality, where every artwork, textile, and material choice celebrates Vietnamese craftsmanship.
The curated artwork collection plays a central role: nostalgic portraits, locally inspired abstract forms, and soft-toned compositions that evoke memory and belonging. Together they weave a narrative that balances refined modernity with cultural intimacy.
This hotel proves that art doesn’t need to dominate, it can whisper the story of place through layered texture and emotional subtlety. Using themes like the local Marie Curie School and past student, come fashion designer Sy Hoang
5. InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort – Where Architecture Becomes Art
Suspended between jungle and sea, the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort redefines the idea of destination design. Conceived by the visionary Bill Bensley, it’s a place where every line, curve, and colour palette tells a story, not just of luxury, but of imagination.
Each level of the resort (Heaven, Sky, Earth, and Sea) is a metaphorical journey, and the art direction follows suit. Sculptural installations, hand-painted murals, and custom-crafted pieces celebrate Vietnamese mythology and traditional craftsmanship through a contemporary lens.
From the black-and-white geometry of its architecture to the bursts of lacquer red and gold detailing, the resort feels like an artwork in motion, alive with contrast and narrative depth.
6. The Pullman Resort Danang– Where Architecture Becomes Art
Just steps from the sand, Pullman Danang Beach Resort captures the essence of Vietnam’s central coast through design that feels effortlessly modern yet deeply rooted in nature. The art direction here mirrors the rhythm of the ocean, organic, fluid, and quietly sophisticated.
Textured wall panels, woven materials, and locally inspired artworks bring warmth to the clean architectural lines. The curated pieces often explore the forms of waves, shells, and coastal flora, abstracted into elegant, design-led compositions that blur the boundary between fine art and interior detailing.
Every artwork feels intentional, enhancing the resort’s sense of calm rather than competing with it. The result is a visual language that celebrates balance: between local craft and modern design, simplicity and soul.
